The trade fair Heimtextil is regarded as an important trend indicator for the home textile sector. It was reported by the Heimtextil organizers that this year a total of 2’634 companies (+2.4% compared to 2011) from 61 different countries presented their home textile products at the large fairgrounds in Frankfurt.

Generally, the atmosphere at the fair was good and the exhibitors were happy with the quality of the contacts and the number of new contracts won. However, it is a fact that there were fewer buyers at the trade fair than in the year before. Around 70’000 visitors were registered, which is approximately 5% less than last year. The exact numbers will be published later this year. The fewer number of buyers, especially from Europe, can be explained by the difficult economic situation of many European countries.

For the fourth time, SIPPO Swiss Import Promotion Programme hosted eight highly motivated and creative producers of home textiles at its collective stand at Heimtextil 2012. Four Indonesian and four Vietnamese companies presented their collections at the SIPPO stand in the Asian hall 10.3. Four of these companies were exhibiting at Heimtextil for the first time.

Globally thinking buyers and other interested parties could find trendy products that comply with market requirements and offer good quality at attractive prices. The companies exhibited hand embroidered table and bed linens, blankets and cushions, terry towels, carpets made from natural fibers and wood, as well as creative table sets.

For SIPPO and the companies, this fourth participation with Asian exhibitors at Heimtextil 2012 was a success, despite the reduced number of visitors.

The SIPPO project team Eve Bächtold, Project Manager, Martina Flütsch, Project Assistant as well as Urs Wehrle, Senior Consultant are happy to report about the successful fair participation and would like to thank all companies for their professional presentations and kind cooperation.

The next Heimtextil trade fair will be held from January 9-12, 2013. Again, SIPPO plans to have a collective stand with ten to twelve companies from Indonesia and Vietnam.
