Taiwanese firms bag $3mn spot orders at ISPO Munich

Taiwanese textile producers have bagged US$ 3 million worth of spot orders at the just concluded premier sportswear fair ISPO Munich.

The overall order size, including spot orders, is expected to swell to US$ 26 million or NT$ 770 million after follow-up communications, the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) said.

Around 2,200 buyers visited the Taiwanese pavilion set up by the Federation at the four-day event.

The Taiwanese pavilion had 58 firms including Singtex Industrial Co., Li Peng Enterprise Co. and Everest Textile Co., TTF said.

The Taiwan pavilion was the only pavilion at the fair which was solely dedicated to textiles, and its drew attention of several overseas buyers.

Trying to lure potential buyers with the catchphrase “Think Taiwan for Textiles”, the Taiwanese pavilion exhibited outdoor sportswear and performance textiles, including cooling and moisture-absorbing fabrics, which is a speciality of Taiwanese textile makers.

The Federation also organized two seminars at the expo, to create a platform for overseas buyers to get in direct touch with Taiwanese exhibitors and explore future business opportunities.

Over 200 overseas buyers, including representatives of American and European brands like BASK, Maier, O’Neill, Ziener, Adidas, Vaude and Helly Hansen attended these seminars.

According to TTF, several buyers from Eastern Europe also showed interest in Taiwanese sportswear, following which Taiwanese textile producers plan to pursue sales in that region and other upcoming markets.

ISPO is considered as the leading international sports business network. Each year, over 2,000 exhibitors from across the world present their latest outdoor, ski, action and performance sports products at the show.

Over 80,000 visitors from more than 100 countries participated in ISPO Munich, which was held from February 3-6 this year.
