Government supports 'One Village, One Product' Campaign

METI Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry informed that 'One Village, One Product' Campaign started in February 2006 for supporting the least developed countries and others in Asia and Africa.
In logo the spiral figure symbolizes the process of a product destined for the worldwide market being manufactured in a small village, while the number one held in the hand represents the feelings toward product by the village.
The gradually widening girth of the spiral expresses the increasing power realized through the support and efforts of various parties combining together.
Message from Minister Nikai The Government of Japan supports initiating the "One Village, One Product" movement in developing countries as part of the "Development Initiative for Trade" advocated by Prime Minister Koizumi and announced on the occasion of the WTO Hong Kong Ministerial Conference held in December 2005.
Also, we will support developing OVOP movement in LDCs and others from a medium and longer perspective.
Through the campaign, which started in February 2006, culturally representative and attractive products such as craftwork items, textiles, and processed foods from nations in Asia, Africa, Oceania, and Central America will be introduced to the people of Japan.
"One Village, One Product" markets (exhibitions at airports) Craftwork items, textiles, processed foods, and cosmetics produced in these nations will be exhibited and sold at Kansai International Airport, Narita International Airport, and other places.
