TSHK announces 'The Fashion Industry - Behind the Scenes'

Textile Society of Hong Kong (TSHK) declares “The Fashion Industry - Behind the Scenes.”
Lizette Smook has been in the textile industry since 1981, mainly in the field of garment technology. She currently holds a senior management position with NEXT, involved with sourcing, product and fabric development and overseeing more than 140 garment factories. She previously worked with Nike and Woolworth's, and has also written a book, The Competitiveness of China.
Lizette's talk to the Textile Society will offer a glimpse behind the scenes of the fashion industry; how it all happens, how retailers such as NEXT select factories, fabrics etc, and how the garments are delivered to fashion retailers and meet the customer's requirements. The presentation aims to clarify the process from when the buyer decides what she wants to when the garments are delivered to stores.
She explains various aspects that the retailer has to take into account in the process and production of global manufacturing today. We welcome this fascinating opportunity to hear from someone so closely involved in the textile supply chain, and look forward to learning more about up-to-the-minute fashion production.
