Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers' Cooperative Society (APCO) proposes to modernize looms and providing training to weavers to achieve the target of Rs150 crore turnovers and boost its products market value.
Y S Prasad, Managing Director, APCO, said that to survive in country's competitive market, society needs to modernize more looms and give training to weavers about advanced designs.
Society is also planning to join Sri Lanka's Nilisuha garments to export handloom products.
In year 2005-06 over 500 road shows were organized and around 1,000 road shows are proposed to organize during 2006-07 to give maximum mileage to handloom sector, said Prasad.
