During a visit of Cyrill Nunn, German Ambassador to Pakistan, to the PTEA office in Faisalabad, PTEA chairman Sheikh Ilyas Mahmood said the German Government sincerely supported Pakistan for duty free access of its goods to the EU under the GSP as well as in obtaining the GSP Plus status.

Mr. Mahmood said the GSP Plus will help Pakistan’s economy, as it will boost the country’s exports, especially textile exports. He also appreciated the part played by the German embassy in Islamabad in helping textile exporters increase their trade with Germany.

Mr. Nunn said the GSP Plus status provides an opportunity for Pakistan to improve its economic and political relations with the EU. He said the GSP Plus facility gives Pakistan a competitive edge in the EU markets and it would contribute to sustainable development in the country.

To help Pakistan get maximum benefit from its GSP Plus status, Germany would launch an extensive vocation training programme to help enhance the quantity and quality of exportable Pakistani goods, the Ambassador informed.
