IGATEX 2006 exhibition opens in Karachi

IGATEX 2006 exhibition opened at Karachi Expo Centre on Wednesday with participation of over 500 exhibitors from 30 countries and a large number of trade delegates from all parts of the world.
Federal Minister for Textile Mushtaq Cheema praised participation of all countries, particularly China and Turkey, which have remarkable presence in exhibition halls at the IGATEX 2006.
Such exhibitions are best trade tool to bring buyers and sellers on one platform for international competition, he said.
A Roundtable Conference was held for the first time at IGATEX, under title of The Role Of Technology In the Development Of the Textile Industry In Pakistan & South Asia in the context of WTO environment.
Pakistan was rising up to challenges of international markets and will maintain standards of quality, Cheema said at the session.
He assured of measures being taken to enhance skills of technicians to expedite technology upgradation and compete at international level.
Heinrich Truetzschler from German Engineering Federation VDMA pointed out that Pakistan is among four most important textile countries in the world.
Gianluigi Sora from Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers ACIMIT highlighted two most important pillars of success in this industry which are skilled people and technology update.
Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Chairman Haroon Farooqui and representatives from Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and London Chamber of Conference also visited the IGATEX 2006.
