Looking at the response wool product exports got last fiscal, Wool and Woolen Export Promotion Council (WWEPC) is gearing up to target exports worth $500 million by end of 2006-07.
"The council is looking at achieving a total wool product export of $500 million in 2006-07, keeping in mind the handsome growth witnessed in last fiscal's export," WWEPC Chairman, Ashok Jaidka said.
The council was encouraged by wool and its by-product exports surging 6.92 percent to Rs 1,583.07 crore in April-December 2005 compared to Rs 1,480.67 crore in corresponding period.
"The council will participate in Magic Show exhibition to be held in Las Vegas, Hong Kong and New York and will send its delegation to South Africa, Latin America and Scandinavia for exploring new export markets," said Jaidka.
