Shri Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) announced on 21.06.2006 at Writers' Buildings that his company will invest nearly Rs.4,000 crore in two projects in West Bengal.
One of these two projects will comprise agri-hubs and a retailing chain across the State, the other will keep it supplied with piped natural gas from the Krishna-Godavari Coast and the Orissa Coast.
Speaking to the Media Shri Ambani said that they want to transform the existing agri-retail sector to bring prosperity to the farmers of West Bengal.
Thanking Shri Ambani for choosing West Bengal for its investment, the CM expressed hope that the agri-business project and the retail hubs would help farmers learn more about market mechanisms and the modern sales promotion methods for optimum benefit.
