Pumpkin Patch is the 'superstar' of childrenswear, NZRA report

The New Zealand Retailers Association (NZRA) released the report for childrenswear sector in New Zealand.
One major player has swept through New Zealand and Australia – reshaping the childrenswear sector, wedge into the UK market, and now has its sights set on the US.
Pumpkin Patch is the superstar of childrenswear and even its bruised competitors can't help but admire its progress. But there are other stars too. Pumpkin Patch, simply referred to as Pumpkin these days, has had another strong year with a 27 per cent increase in turnover to $280 million. This represents a 64 per cent increase in net profit.
It has 150 stores now: 47 in New Zealand, 80 in Australia, 18 in the UK, three in the US and more to open. New Zealand sales make up 20 per cent of Pumpkin's total turnover from its 33 Pumpkin Patch stores – including the four that opened in 2005 – and 14 Urban Angel stores.
Pumpkin clothes our newborn babies up to around eight/nine years old and Urban Angel takes over when our little girls turn about eight and clothes them up to about fourteen – trendy gear for our tweenies.
Some of the 26 per cent increase in turnover within New Zealand is attributed to acquiring HBK – since re-branded Urban Angel – and the carry-over of this into the earlier part of the financial year. But there was still an increase in turnover of 16 per cent storefor- store.
