Chikungunya epidemic on Reunion Island is worrying health authorities, and our powerlessness when confronted by this scourge makes us come back to, for lack of curative solutions, principles of prevention that can associate mosquito-repellent products to Textile.
Treated mosquito netting or suitable suits for soldiers in charge of mosquito removal are reassuring leads that should be followed up.
How can we verify the veracity of these treatments? By testing the rate of permethrin contained in these products, we can appreciate their effectiveness better and more efficiently.
Specialising in consumer health and safety problems, trained in the dosing of prohibited or hazardous products, the team of IFTH's consumer safety laboratory in Mulhouse now proposes to test such textiles.
It is studying this new risk and striving to develop tests or dosages to better control the effectiveness of the range of mosquitorepellent treatments used in personal protection.
