Clothes/fashions sales up in May Cyber Shopping Mall Survey

Korea National Statistical Office released the Cyber Shopping Mall Survey of May 2006.
1. Number of Establishments According to the results of the Cyber Shopping Mall Survey, the number of establishments mainly dealing in retail e-commerce transactions between business and consumer (B2C) marked 4,454 in May 2006, an increase of 33 establishments or 0.7 percent from the previous month.
The number of establishments in May grew by 686 establishments or 18.2 percent year-on-year.
2. Total Transaction Value of Goods and Services The total sales of goods and services in cyber shopping malls in May recorded 1,113.3 billion won, an increase of 65.2 billion won or 6.2 percent from the previous month.
- The total size of B2C e-commerce transactions in May amounted to 747.3 billion won, up 36.7 billion won or 5.2 percent from the previous month.
The total sales of goods and services in cyber shopping malls in May increased by 253.2 billion won or 29.4 percent, compared to 860.1 billion won in May 2005.
3. Total Transaction Value by General•Specialized Mall The total sales of general malls in May marked 794.2 billion won, which accounted for 71.3 percent out of the total sales of cyber shopping malls.
The total sales of general malls in May expanded by 199.5 billion won or 33.6 percent year-on-year. The total sales of specialized malls in May rose by 53.7 billion won or 20.2 percent year-on-year.
