Government is taking aggressive steps to revive the jute industry.
Many new jute-based industries are cropping up all over the country, especially that manufacturing paper pulp.
International Jute Study Group (IJSG) reports that Bangladesh has the potential to build plants to produce pulp from raw jute, not only enough to fulfill domestic demand for paper pulp, but also earn around Taka 250 billion as export turnover.
Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI) has joined hands with the French Institute for Textile and Clothing (FITC) to manufacture household products like curtains, upholstery and matting for embankments using combination of natural fibres including jute, cotton and flax.
Government is also searching for ways to use jute products in automobile industry.
