Philippines' exports grew at lower rate of 2.9 percent to $3.96 billion in July, 2006 compared to 20.6 percent gain in June 2006, according to statistics released by National Statistics Office.
Appreciation of Peso also affected exports as Peso valued 52.398 to the dollar in July 2006 from 55.952 in July 2005.
According to National Statistics, demand for womens wear, Pullovers, jersey, cardigans, waistcoats and similar articles of cotton, and knitted or crocheted wears will increase.
Among the importing countries Japan imported goods worth $642.62 million, up 3.5 percent year-on-year while other major importers were Hong Kong with $381.44 million, the Netherlands with $333.20 million, China with $332.79 million, Singapore with $279.05 million, Malaysia with $225.48 million, Taiwan with $209.63 million, Germany with $162.31 million, and Thailand with $111.72 million.
