Facts and figures on the world man-made fibre industry

The 43rd edition of the “CIRFS Statistical Yearbook – Information on Man-Made Fibres” - the world's leading guide to the man-made fibres industry, is now available on paper and on file (pdf) versions.

Compared with the 2005 Yearbook, this year's edition includes an improved presentation of worldwide production data by fibre and trade data for two additional reporting countries (67 countries in total).

The CIRFS Yearbook, containing 305 pages of facts and figures about the worldwide Man-Made Fibres industry, charts both the long term trends in the industry and the recent developments in particular.

The information includes:
More than 30 pages on World production volumes of man-made fibres, cotton and wool from 1900 to 2005, with a detailed geographic breakdown covering the more recent years.

2005 Share of Man-Made Fibres in the World Mill Consumption was 60 percent, for 51 percent in 1995 and 46 percent in 1985.

If the American and European shares in the World Man-Made Fibres productions are rather similar and pretty stable since years, Asia is growing very strongly, mainly since 1993. China alone was producing more than 40 percent of the world 2005 production.

22 pages on Fibres Mill Consumption trends in Western Europe, Central Europe, Turkey & C.I.S.

27 pages on End-use patterns for man-made and natural fibres in Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, USA and Japan.
