The annual meeting of the Kimberly Process has planned to get rid of the illicit gem trade and to stop the flow of black market diamonds that fuels civil wars in the African nation. They have accused Ghana of certifying gems coming from war-ravaged Ivory Coast.
Kimberly Process gave the African nation three months to stop the bogus certifications of black market diamonds. If failed, Ghana would not be able to certify its diamonds and would have to apply to rejoin the group
Botswana, the world's biggest producer of high-quality diamonds presently preside the Kimberley Process, received credit for pressurizing Ghana to abide by the limitations.
