The fifth edition of the Meet in Africa occurred in November 25th up to 27th in the city of Cairo, Egypt. The fair had as main focus final products, components, chemicals and finishings.
The 2006 edition has been organized by the Egyptian Association of Exporters (Expolink), Egyptian Industries Federation, Egyptian Tannery Chamber, Egyptian Leather Chamber of Industries, Promoting Agency of Export and Investment (Apex-Brasil) and the Brazilian Company Association for Leather, Footwear and Artifacts (Assintecal).
This year, Assintecal will participate with more than ten companies attending in its stand, and still 20 companies participating on the showroom, in which final products and interesting collected contacts are presented. In this group there are manufacturer companies of soles, ornaments, dies, uppers and other footwear components. Besides, the one hundred participating companies of the 11º Design and Technology Forum will be also represented in the fair.
Egypt
Footwear market – With a production capacity up to 120 millions footwear pairs per year, Egypt manufactures several kinds of footwear, like: classic, casual, sportive, feminine, masculine, infantile, security footwear, military and slippers.
Exports – Brazil outstands, being the fifth biggest footwear supplier for Egypt. The Brazilian footwear export for Egypt, during the 2005 year, were US$ 1.3 millions, which represented an increase of 67.2% in relationto last year.
