The collection covers the period from the Warring States to the present day and includes all areas of Chinese textiles. It is particularly strong in rank badges, Ming robes, furniture covers, and religious vestments.

Chris organised the first major exhibition of Chinese textiles which took place at the Hong Kong Museum of Art in 1995. His collection was the major part of exhibitions of Chinese textiles at the Ashmoleon Museum in Oxford and the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney in 2004,and in the Asian Civilizations Museum of Singapore in 2006.

A few years ago the Museum of Sex in New York borrowed from Chris a prostitute's apron with 4 beautifully painted scenes for their exhibition of Chinese erotica.

The Subject: The talk will be a general introduction to Chinese textiles illustrated with slides from his collection including robes, rank badges, 6th century textiles, Buddhist textiles, furniture covers and other textiles. We are pleased and honoured to have this renowned collector to share his expertise with us.
