The Textile Society of Hong Kong presents Beginners Chinese Knotting Class: The Button Knot with Paula Griffiths on Thursday January 25, 2.30–5.00 pm at The Helena May, 35 Garden Road, Central.

The button knot is used in an extensive range of Chinese decorative crafts, including dress fastenings, purses and bags, soft furnishings etc. In this class, students will learn the basic button knot technique, which will then be used to complete a bead necklace using satin cord. All materials will be provided and examples of other uses for the button knot will be on display at the class. Join us to master this most attractive and basic of Chinese knots.

The class will last for 2½ hours, and the cost will be $300 for members, $350 non-members, refreshments and materials included. Minimum 4 people, maximum 9.

The Textile Society of Hong Kong aims to explore all aspects of both traditional and contemporary textiles. The Society intends to satisfy not only those with an established knowledge of textiles - our international membership includes design professionals, museum curators, collectors, historians, textile conservators, dealers and craftspeople - but also members who are just beginning their interest in this broad field.
