Enjoy unique crafts in National Handloom Expo 2007

National Handloom Expo 2007, which began on March 15, is currently running on at the Co-optex Grounds in Pantheon Road, Egmore. The event will continue till April 2.
The exhibition has 101 stall with 90 participants from all over the country. A range of hand-woven textiles and cloth-based utility items from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Orissa, and North Eastern States are on display.
The Srinagar stall displays a wide range of exclusive hand-embroidered fabrics and readymade clothes. The main attraction of the stall is the pashmina shawl from Ladakh which costs Rs85,000.
Pastel coloured bed sheets from Puducherry, wool carpets from Bikaner and Jaipur, Kantha stitch from Shantiniketan, traditional handiwork of Gujarat, silk letter bags of Azad Handloom Silk Weavers Co-operative Society, Varanasi have become special drawer of the event.
Sales turnover in 2004, has touched Rs1.96 crore and organizers of this event are anticipating to do a business of Rs3 crore.
Fashion show for children and men are organized for pulling crowds.
