As reported by the Federal Statistical Office, the consumer price index for Germany rose 1.8% between June 2006 and June 2007. Compared with the previous month of May 2007, the index rose 0.1%.
The estimate for June 2007 based on the results from six Länder was thus confirmed. In the three previous months, that is March to May 2007, the year-on-year rate of change was 1.9% each.
The prices of clothing and footwear, too, showed a consumer-friendly trend (–0.8% on the previous month). The harmonised consumer price index for Germany, which is calculated for European purposes, rose 2.0% in June 2007 on June 2006.
Compared with the previous month, the index was up 0.1%. The estimate of 28 June 2007 was thus confirmed.
