I am pleased to announce arrangements for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Australia 2007 Business Summit, to be held in Sydney from 6-7 September 2007.

The two-day summit will be the key event bringing together business and economic leaders during APEC Leaders Week to be held from 2-9 September 2007.

It will bring together business leaders, opinion setters, policy makers and APEC Economic Leaders from across Australia and the Asia-Pacific including the Chairman and CEO of Chevron Corporation, Mr David O'Reilly, the Group Executive Vice President and CFO of the Bank of China, Dr Zhu Min and former Financial Times World Trade Editor and Asia columnist and commentator Mr Guy de Jonquières to discuss global economics, trade, energy and climate change, education, information and innovation.

Under the theme 'Strengthening our community, building a sustainable future,' this year's Summit is an opportunity to build on cooperation between business and governments within the Asia-Pacific and ensure that broader Asia-Pacific perspectives are given full voice in shaping the stability and prosperity of our region into the future.

It will bring together business leaders, opinion setters, policy makers and APEC Economic Leaders from across Australia and the Asia-Pacific, to discuss a range of issues including global economics, trade, energy and climate change, education, information and innovation.

In a break with past practice, the summit is an invitation-only event, with a high profile and targeted audience, the program and organisation of which has been undertaken directly by the Australian Government. The summit's proceedings will feed into discussion at the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting.
