MANTRA seminar on medical textiles

MANTRA, SCET & the Institute of Engineers is organizing a seminar on 'Medical Textiles – Production Technologies & Applications' on October 5 & 6, 2007 at the auditorium of the Institute of Engineers, Surat.
Aim of this seminar is to explore the enormous potential of medical textiles to cater to the specific requirement of industries such as Protective & Healthcare textiles, e.g., surgeon's wear, operating drapes, etc., External Devices such as wound dressings, bandages, pressure garments, etc. Implantable materials such as sutures, vascular grafts, artificial ligaments, etc.Hygiene products such as incontinence pads, nappies, sanitary towels, etc., and Extracorporeal Devices such as artificial kidney, etc.
The seminar also aims to provide a unique platform to comprehensively address the concerns and bring together the technological experts, regulatory officials, industry leaders among others. As you are aware, MANTRA has been selected to set up a Centre of Excellence in Technical Textiles. This will also create awareness in technical textiles among local entrepreneurs. The following topics will be covered in the seminar.
1. Bio-degradable/Non-bio-degradable fibres used in Medical Textiles.
2. Manufacturing of Medical Textiles for different applications.
3. Hospital Textiles.
4. Wound care Textiles.
5. Application of Textiles in Medical Implants & Other Devices.
6. Smart Textiles in Medicine.
