According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in July 2007 the Estonian foreign trade turnover made up 23.4 billion kroons. The trade deficit was 3.4 billion kroons and the trade deficit decreased compared to July 2006 as well as to June 2007.
Compared to July 2006, the foreign trade turnover increased 4% and, compared to June 2007 it decreased 8%.
In July the exports were 10 billion kroons (43%) and imports 13.4 billion kroons (57%). Compared to July 2006, the exports of goods increased 12%, and compared to June 2007 it decreased 7%. Compared to July 2006, the imports of goods decreased 1% and compared to June 2007 8%.
In July the trade deficit decreased. In July 2006 it was 4.7 billion kroons and in June 2007 3.8 billion kroons.
In July the share of EU countries (EU-27)b in exports accounted for 69% and of the CIS countries 11% of total exports (in July of the previous year the indicators were 64% and 10%, respectively). The main destination countries in exports were Finland (17% of total exports), Latvia (13%) and Sweden (11%).
In July the share of EU countries (EU-27) in imports was 77% and of the CIS countries 12% of total imports (in July of the previous year the indicators were 72% and 20%, respectively). The main consignment countries in imports were Finland (15% of total imports), Germany (13%) and Sweden (9%).
Compared to July of the previous year, there was an increase mainly in the exports of transportequipment (by 426 million kroons), of miscellaneous manufactured articles (by 302 million kroons), of wood and products thereof (by 242 million kroons) and of agricultural products and food preparations (by 224 million kroons). At the same time, there was a considerable decrease only in the exports of machinery and equipment (by 408 million kroons) and of mineral products (by 221 million kroons).
Compared to July of the previous year, there was an increase mainly in the imports of metals and products thereof (by 341 million kroons), of transport equipment (by 203 million kroons) and of wood and products thereof (by 165 million kroons). At the same time, there was a remarkable decrease only in the imports of mineral products (by 1 billion kroons) and of machinery and equipment (by 409 million kroons).
