Output per worker increased by 2.6 per cent in the third quarter of 2007, compared with the same quarter a year ago, up from a growth of 2.5 per cent in the previous quarter.
Quarter on previous quarter growth in output per worker for the third quarter of 2007 increased by 0.4 per cent, down from a growth of 0.5 per cent in the previous quarter.
Unit wage costs for the whole economy in the third quarter of 2007 increased by 1.5 per cent compared with the same quarter a year ago, up from a growth of 1.4 per cent in the previous quarter.
Unit wage costs increased by 0.7 per cent in the third quarter of 2007 compared with the second quarter, up from a fall of 0.2 per cent in the previous quarter.
Whole economy productivity: Whole economy productivity grew by 2.6 per cent in the third quarter of 2007 compared with the same quarter a year ago, up from a growth of 2.5 per cent in the previous quarter. Growth in output was 3.2 per cent, up from a growth of 3.1 per cent in the previous quarter. Growth in whole economy workers was 0.6 per cent, the same as in the previous quarter.
The alternative measure of productivity, output per hour worked, showed that hourly productivity grew by 2.1 per cent in the third quarter of 2007 compared with the same quarter a year ago, the same as the previous quarter. Total hours worked grew by 1.1 per cent in the third quarter of 2007 compared with the same quarter a year ago, up from a growth of 1.0 per cent in the previous quarter.
