Labour Force Survey for Q3

According to the results of the Labour Force Survey, which is carried out in accordance with a European Union Regulation, for the 3rd quarter of 2007, the number of employed persons amounted to 379.777 (males 210.910 and females 168.867) and the number of unemployed persons to 15.622 (males 6.893 and females 8.729).
The employment rate for persons aged 15-64 was 71,3% (males 80,8% and females 62,4%) recording an increase from the corresponding quarter of 2006.
The unemployment rate amounted to 4,0% of the labour force (males 3,2% and females 4,9%) while in the 2nd quarter the rate was 3,4% (males 3,2% and females 3,6%) and the corresponding quarter of 2006 the rate was 4,0% (males 3,0% and females 5,1%).
Also the unemployment rate for young persons aged 15-24 was 10,4% compared to 8,6% in the corresponding quarter of 2006.
