“Education and Knowledge-Based Economies - Learner Empowerment in Small Island States” is the theme of an international conference which will be held from 10 to 12 April 2008 in Mauritius. It will be organized by the Mauritius Institute of Education, in collaboration with the University of Brighton, U.K.
The conference aims to look at opportunities and challenges that globalisation brings to the world of education and strategies to ensure that education systems contribute to empowering learners and teachers to become global citizens.
The conference will also help Mauritius to contribute to the establishment of the knowledge hub, enhance the concept of World Class Education and attain level playing field in the education sector.
Participants from Australia, France, India, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius Réunion Island, Singapore and United Kingdom will attend the conference.
The conference will also provide a platform for interaction on issues related to: • Teacher Education; • Curriculum Development; • Assessment and Evaluation; • Higher Education; and • Equity and Inclusion in Education.
