ITMA's Haute Couture support fight against breast cancer

Members of the International Textile Market Association (ITMA) proudly dress much of the upholstered furniture shown at each High Point Market. At the upcoming Market, however, their fine fabrics will appear also on manikins in several furniture showrooms, including La-Z-Boy and Pearson. It's part of an effort to raise awareness for earlier detection of breast cancer.

The women's jackets on display were designed by 3 Sisters Clothing, a specialty apparel manufacturer based in Dallas, Texas, which uses home furnishings fabrics for its haute fashions. The fabrics were donated by Costa Blanca, Valdese Weavers, Craftex Mills, and Textile Fabric Associates, among other textile companies. The jackets will be displayed during Showtime, June 1-4. They will be auctioned at a Showtime event on June 1, with proceeds benefiting Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test, a Greensboro-based nonprofit whose mission is to support research for early diagnostic testing for breast cancer.

Founded in 1990, the ITMA is a non-profit trade association that produces Showtime for its member companies, mostly home furnishings textile manufacturers.
