SMEDA, TUSDEC join hands for development of SME sector

Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) Technology Up gradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here Wednesday with an objective to work together to accelerate industrial development in the country.

Under the MoU, both the organizations would jointly endeavour to identify skill and technology gaps in targeted industrial clusters by conducting studies and work for overcoming the identified shortcomings through joint seminars, workshops, conferences and exhibitions.

They would also set up Common Facility Centres (CFCs) through mutual collaboration in selected industrial clusters for technology up gradation and work jointly for provision of product/materials testing and accreditation facilities in the specific industrial clusters.

SMEDA and TUSDEC would also develop a pool of local and expatriate experts and consultants to help in various industrial sectors.

They would assist the industry in reducing cost, improving process effectiveness, and increasing competitiveness of goods and services for exports while meeting international benchmarking and certification.

SMEDA, under the MoU would explore opportunities to train SMEs in collaboration with TUSDEC and develop mechanisms to carry out co-branded training activities.

SMEDA would provide an opportunity to TUSDEC for promoting its services through virtual and physical outreach.

TUSDEC, under the agreement, would collaborate with SMEDA in conceiving projects related to technology up gradation and skill development and assessing their feasibility.

It would also offer services of CAD/CAM centres to SMEDA on mutually agreed terms and conditions.

SMEDA and TUSDEC would collaborate in conducting skill mapping exercise in selected districts of Pakistan.
