Trade body to explore export opportunities with Mexico

Ms. Zehra Akbari, Ambassador of Pakistan to Mexico had a meeting with KCCI's Chief, Mr. Shamim Ahmed Shamsi. The ambassador was warmly received by the Chamber's Chief alongwith Senior Vice President, Mr. Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh and Members Managing Committee.
Mr. Shamim Ahmed Shamsi and the ambassador of Mexico in Pakistan discussed about the possibility of business, trade and investment opportunities between Pakistan and Mexico. Mr. Shamsi has requested the Ambassador of Mexico for providing the data input of import and Export of his country to find out joint collaboration possibilities particularly to increase volume of exports like textiles, apparels, iron & steel, electrical machinery and pharmaceutical products etc.
Mr.Shamsi pointed out some problems regarding clearance of containers shipped by the Pakistani exporters to Mexico and emphasized the need of assistance and cooperation from the Pakistan Embassy in Mexico to help Pakistani exports in the segments of textile, home linen, garments, handicrafts, furniture, wooden panel etc. to Mexico.
Mr. Shamsi said that in addition to exports of Textile products and sports goods, Pakistani Vendor industry in the segment of auto parts and Pakistani pharmaceutical products have potential for export to Mexico.
Ms. Zehra Akbari said that business community should come forward and explore further opportunities for increasing trade with Mexico to capture their share in the market. She suggested that KCCI's delegation should visit Mexico for enhancement of trade between Pakistan and Mexico particularly furniture and handicraft, opening of Pakistani restaurants and show rooms in Mexico.
She assured that Pakistan Embassy in Mexico would extend full cooperation and provide all possible facilities to the Pakistan business community in this regard. She was also quite optimistic that the ban on import of Pakistani rice in Mexico would soon be lifted.
