Sesh Kumar appointed as Chairman of Coir Board

Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India has conveyed the approval vide letter No. 2(4)/2002-Coir/Estt. dtd. 01.09.2008 and assigned the additional charge of the post of Chairman, Coir Board, Kochi to Shri. Sesh Kumar Pulipaka IA&AS, Joint Secretary, Min. of MSME with immediate effect.

Shri. Sesh Kumar Pulipaka IA&AS has taken over the charge of Chairman Coir Board with effect from 1st September 2008.

A graduate in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management. Has joined the Indian Audit & Accounts Service in 1982. The parent department is the office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India, which is the country's Supreme Audit Institution.

Has wide exposure to the audit of revenues of Government of India, various national central sectors as well as centrally sponsored development and social welfare schemes, besides leading teams for audit of international agencies like United Nations bodies on behalf of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

Served as First Secretary (Audit) in the Indian High Commission in London. Participated in a number of international conferences, seminars and projects.

Has served as Deputy Secretary and Director in the Government of India in the Department of Atomic Energy. Joined as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India in August 2006 and has been representing the Ministry in the Coir Board.

Has been instrumental in framing major policy initiatives for the Khadi and Village Industries sector and Coir sector including special schemes in the XIth Plan such as;

(i) Rejuvenation, Modernisation and Technology Upgradation in the Coir Sector with a total outlay of Rs.243 crores;

(ii) Scheme for Enhancement of Productivity and Efficiency in the Khadi Industry Sector with government assistance of Rs.75 crores;

(iii) Work Shed Scheme for khadi spinners and weavers with a total outlay of Rs.127 crores; etc.

A member of National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Board; National Khadi and Village Industries Board; and Khadi and Village Industries Commission since joining the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in August 2006.
