Citing "significant open issues," TRSA's Board of Directors passed a resolution on Friday, November 18, 2005 to postpone the consolidation of UTSA and TRSA until 2007.
The TRSA Board resolution states that TRSA and UTSA should continue to operate as independent associations through 2006, while continuing to cooperate, and that the consolidation date be extended to January 1, 2007.
UTSA's Board of Directors will meet via conference call December 5 to discuss the matter.
"Combining two associations requires work and costs money. Hard decisions must be made, based on mutual trust.
They must be able to reach agreements, and act based on those agreements.
It is not a casual process, and UTSA's Board will take this latest development seriously," UTSA/UTRSA Chairman Jim Buik said.
UTSA members provide, clean, and maintain reusable textile products, such as uniforms, sheets, table linen, shop and print towels, floor mats, mops, and other items to thousands of business in all industries.
These industries include light, heavy, and hi-tech manufacturing; healthcare; restaurants; service, retail, construction and transportation industries; and institutions.
