Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce (FICC) released the retail sales results.
An analysis of figures released by Israel's economic ministries shows that sales by retail chains rose by 5 percent during the first three quarters of 2005, compared with the same period last year.
Sales of clothing and textile products by retail chains rose by 12.3 percent during the period, compared with a rise of 8.8 percent last year.
Other items showing increases: footwear, cosmetics, alcoholic beverages, and cigarettes. Sales of appliances, durable goods, kitchenware, and housewares fell during January to September. (“Retail sales up 5 percent in January-September,” Globes [online] November 8, 2005)
