Stahl on Leather Preview Autumn/Winter 2012/2013

“Postcard Leather Preview” is a companion to Stahl Design Studio's earlier colour preview booklet for Autumn and Winter 2012/2013.
An original and colourful approach to presentation provides the reader with a collection of first impressions forecasting how leather will look, and the associated technology, during this season. Here are many of the anticipated fashion effects, brought together in just four groups, Epoch, Panoramic, Tourist and Virtual.
Thirty two leather samples are interspersed with a variety of fascinating photographs, presented as postcards, showing leather fashion associated with footwear and clothing, in the streets, used in the design of the now essential clutch bag, on furniture and in interior design. Although the emphasis is very much biased towards the appearance of leather, colour nevertheless remains important and can play an important role in the look of each effect. Some effects are clearly better for darker colours while others show up better in light or brighter tones and shades.
Descriptions of style join with key points to tell the story behind each fashion group and to give the reader an insight into the thoughts for the presentation, use and appearance of leather during the northern hemisphere's short days and long nights of Autumn and Winter in 2012/2013.
The result is a booklet that, together with its colour preview companion, has an important place on the designer's work table and in the beamhouse, wet-end and finishing departments of the tannery.
