Metals & Chemicals maker Synalloy appoints new CEO

Producer of specialty chemicals, dyes and pigments, stainless steel pipe, vessels and process equipment, Synalloy Corporation announced that its Board of Directors has elected Ronald H Braam to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Synalloy Corporation effective January 1, 2006, a position that has been vacant since Ralph Matera's resignation effective September 30, 2005.
Braam was President of Manufacturers Soap and Chemical Company ('MC') when it was acquired by Synalloy in 1996.
Under his direction, through a combination of internal growth and acquisitions, MC has increased sales by 122 percent since it was acquired by Synalloy.
He has assumed increasingly more responsible roles in the Chemical Segment culminating in his current position of President of that Segment.
Braam has been an active community leader in the Cleveland, Tennessee area serving in a number of roles including President of Cleveland State Community College Foundation, Chairman of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Board of the United Way of Bradley County, President and Chairman of the Board of the Bradley Healthcare Foundation.
He also serves on the Tennessee State Commission, Department of Environment and Conservation.
