The company Neschen AG, founding member of the EcoPrint trade fair, will be exhibiting there in Berlin on 26 and 27 September. The Bückeburg coating specialist will be presenting its PVC-free digital print media and the new protective laminates with water-based adhesive.

Trade visitors will be able to inspect the environmentally friendly media on Expolinc display systems for example, at the Neschen exhibition stand. The high-quality systems are particularly notable for their long product life cycle and can be equipped with up-to-date banners time and again.

The company will also be promoting its products on site with the help of numerous experts and presentations.

One highlight of Neschen's promotional activities at the trade fair will be the new Erfurt WB: wallpaper CA, digital print wallpaper for all water-based pigment inks. The cellular and textile fibres used are free of PVC and softeners; they do not emit any aromatic compounds and acrylics which can be damaging to health.

When printed with water-based inks, the wallpaper retains its environmentally friendly quality. For besides the printing medium, the printing technology used also has a considerable influence on the environmental impact of the finished product Water-based ink systems do not have any poisonous emissions and use less energy than solvent printing technologies.

Neschen is therefore increasingly using this ink system or HP's latex printing technology, which combines the advantages of solvent printing with the environmental compatibility of water-based inks. For environmental protection reasons, Neschen is increasingly using polypropylene (PP) as a raw material in banner manufacture.

This simply structured synthetic is a compound of the two elements, carbon (C) and hydrogen (H). On combustion of the raw material or the PP film, only water (H20) and carbon dioxide (C02) are released.

There are no other environmental or health-damaging by-products. Modern cleaning and filter plants also reduce the emission of the climate killer C02 to a mini-mum.

Water-based adhesive

A water-based adhesive is heralding the "New Generation" of Neschen's tried and tested premium surface protection films. The internationally established "filmolux" laminates now offer an even stronger adhesive power and an improved water-resistance.

Without additional edge-sealing, exhibits protected with filmolux can be displayed outdoors for up to two years; if used outdoors with edge-sealing, they are protected for up to five years.

When used only indoors, the film's life span increases to up to eight years.

Avoiding Misprints

The outstanding quality of the substrates and matching print profiles for every common ink system cause less misprints and even proof copies are usually no longer necessary. Simplified colour management across various media helps to reduce waste significantly. This is very important, from both an ecological and economic point of view.

"Sustainability has many facets not least of which are "green" printing media and efficient processes," said Friedrich Drinkuth, Senior Product Manager at Neschen in Bückeburg.

"This helps to save material and energy. Neschen therefore not only delivers environmentally sound media but also the right colour profile for many common printing systems."
