Scottsdale businessman Douglas Poole, an entrepreneur in both high fashion and high technology, has been granted a license to produce and sell the official scarves of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.

Poole's company, Innov8, is one of only seven apparel-related companies granted licensee status for the Olympic Winter Games by the Torino Olympic Committee. The Games take place between February 10 and 26.

The scarves, which were designed by Poole and his wife, Italian fashion designer Sonia Di Maria, feature the Torino 2006 logo and are available in six styles in fleece, acrylic knit and faux cashmere, and come in three colors -- blue, black and white. They will be sold at the Games by Olympic vendors and prices range from $12 to $24.

Believed to be the only American apparel licensee for the Games, Innov8 is also selling the scarves in large quantities to major Olympics sponsors to distribute as part of their Olympic courtesy packages.

Poole, 49, has a notable record of achievement in both the fashion and high technology industries. He is the son of JP Poole, who in the 1960's helped pioneer the paging industry by starting MinnComm, one of the first and fastest-growing wireless companies. When MinnComm created an Arizona spin-off of the company, AzCom, Douglas Poole played a major role in marketing the company and helping it rise to prominence.

In 1998, Poole joined his wife and in-laws to create and launch the HairDiamond,a sparkling hair accessory that became an instant craze in Europe. Idemaria became HairDiamond S.A.S., and the company, whose strength Poole says is 'Italian 'out-of-the solar system' creativity,' currently has five patents and scores of high-profile clients, including Trussardi, Fiorucci, Vogue, Conde Nast, Donna, Interview, Giorgio Beverly Hills, Federal Express and BMW.

The company has collaborated with and created unique items for Liza Minnelli, Stephanie of Monaco, Jennifer Lopez, Brandy, Britney Spears, the Radio City Rockettes, and Tahnee Welch, among many other celebrities. Innov8's official Torino Olympic scarves will be sold through the remainder of 2006.
