Vegetarian Peace Silk Kimono is the first result of a collaboration between textile designer Denise Bird of the UK and fair trade production unit Ahimsa Peace Silk of India.
The garment is made from wild, organic, hand gathered, hand spun, hand woven and hand machine stitched undyed, naturally coloured 'vegetarian' peace silk.
Ahimsa Peace Silk work for the "upliftment of the rural hand weavers who create such fabulous fabrics for them and the rest of the world.
These weavers have been ravaged by the onslaught of the power looms and their craft and art are dying.
They are vehement in their support and all fabric is created lovingly by these hand weavers".
The silk moths who shed their cocoons upon emerging from them are now flying in their wild, natural habitat or have completed their full life cycle, probably mated and passed away(conventional silk production boils the worm to death prior to its emergence).
Ahmsa Peace Silk are certified by 'People for Animals'.

This Show is in association with fashion designer Jimmy Choo and the BBC.
It is co-ordinated by the LSE Entrepreneurs Society.
