Sumitomo sets up regional headquarters in Singapore

Sumitomo Chemical Establishes Business Support Regional Headquarters for Southeast Asia, India and Oceania Region Sumitomo Chemical has newly established Sumitomo Chemical (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd in Singapore as its Business Support Regional Headquarters for the Southeast Asia, India and Oceania region.

Sumitomo Chemical has actively expanded its business activities in the region over the years, most notably through the petrochemical complex project in Singapore that began commercial operation in 1984 with Sumitomo Chemical playing a core role while working with other major international companies. At present, 22 companies of Sumitomo Chemical Group are operating in eight countries in this region, and the region is positioned as an important stronghold for Sumitomo Chemical in advancing its global business management.

The new company, coordinating closely with the Office for Asia Business Headquarters, a new strategic arm to be set up concurrently on April 1 at Sumitomo Chemical’s head office, will act as Sumitomo Chemical’s regional representative in the region that will build networks with various associations, organizations and governmental entities, gather and analyze economic and other information as well as working to strengthen Sumitomo Chemical Group’s presence across the region.

The new company will also support companies of Sumitomo Chemical Group by assisting in their business planning for the region or by providing various specialized corporate services and support, such as those for human resources, accounting, and information technologies as well as legal and ethics compliance that will be essential for sustainable business operations.
