Mafatlal Group eyes to become Rs 15bn company by 2016-17

Arvind Mafatlal Group, one of India’s leading vertically-integrated textiles producing company with a turnover of Rs. 8.2 billion, intends to grow into a Rs. 15 billion company by 2016-17, Hrishikesh Mafatlal, Chairman of Arvind Mafatlal Group said in his keynote address at an international conference in Ahmedabad.
 
Mafatlal Group is also venturing in the home furnishing space, Mr. Mafatlal said on the sidelines of the conference jointly organized by Textile Association of India (TAI), Textile Manufacturers Association and Ahmedabad-based Diagonal Consulting.
 
He said the Group, recognized as one of the country’s topmost marketer of school and office uniform, would not actually engage in production of home furnishings, but would work on its branding and marketing under the Group name.
 
He said the company has already launched marketing of some home furnishing products on pilot basis and is also studying different distribution models.
 
Besides home furnishings, Mafatlal Industries is also venturing in polyester viscose (PV) suiting, Mr. Mafatlal said. 
 
Meanwhile, the Group is also planning to invest over Rs. 1.5 billion for boosting its textile and denim manufacturing capacity over the next two to three years. 
 
Further, planning to boost its annual denim production capacity from the existing 20 million metres to 30 million metres, and its annual textile production capacity from 25 million metres to 35 million metres, the Group would be investing Rs. 900 million in its flagship company Mafatlal Industries and Rs. 600 million in Mafatlal Denim, Mr. Mafatlal said.
 
He also informed that the Group is already working to merge Mafatlal Denim in Mafatlal Industries, and the process is likely to be completed within a month.
 
Having three plants in Nadiad and Navsari in Gujarat, Mafatlal Industries, produces a wide range of products in polyester-cotton, 100 percent cotton, polyester-viscose and polyester-wool blends, including yarn dyed and piece dyed shirtings, bottom wear fabrics, poplins and voiles.
