Alrosa hands out annual awards for best diamond jewellery

Russian Alrosa jewelry company presented awards on 18th May.
On May 18th ALROSA presented its Best Diamond Jewelry Awards to winners of its annual contest in the Gostiny Dvor trading and exhibition centre in downtown Moscow as part of the program of The New Russian Style Jewellery Fair.
It was the ninths such ceremony. The contest is part of ALROSA's long-term program aimed at supporting jewellery tradition in Russia, promoting works by best Russian jewellers and designers, encouraging demand for diamond jewellery in the domestic market. The Contest was held in three nominations:
- Best Jewellery Design with Large and Medium-Sized Diamonds; - Best Jewellery Design with Small Diamonds; - Best Diamond Jewellery Line; and a special nomination – Best Diamond Jewellery for Men.
In 2005 there were about 60 contestants.
The jury of leading jewellery art experts, prominent personalities of the Russian diamond and jewellery business, representatives of Gokhran announced the winners for 2005:
In the nomination 'Best Jewellery Design with Large and Medium-Sized Diamonds, (high and mediuim quality stones, any cut)'
The First Prize was awarded to the collection of necklaces 'Dreams', designed and crafted by Yaroslav Rakitin and Yuri Shvedkov (Art-Modern, Moscow);
The Second Prize went to the Jubilee set for men, designed and crafted by Alexei Pomelnikov (UFAP, St.Petersburg).
