Leader in the design of luxury artisan products, Nelly Baradas Design will introduce this year's table linens at their second appearance in the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York City on March 9, 2006.
The new collections of fine tablecloths, napkins, placemats and runners, are called Rosa, Sampaguita and Catleya.
"Their clients will find the perfect decor that adds timeless elegance to the dining room," said Nelly Gonzalez-Baradas, President and Chief Executive Officer.
The flagship tablecloths start with the Pina fabric, which is intricately and meticulously hand woven from 100 percent pineapple leaf fibers.
This process of perfection takes an average period of six months.
Using only the Spanish Red Pineapple, a variety that has long, spiny and slender leaves, Nelly Baradas Design harvests these only when they reach their full maturity.
The Pina fabric is considered to be stronger than the silk fabric, and is known all over the world as one of the finer cloths in existence.
The same Pina fibers are then hand-embroidered by artisans using techniques that go back more than 300 years from the Spanish colonial times.
"This 'lost' art form can only be found in the Philippines as generations of their families have handed down this tradition to preserve their history," said designer Nelly Gonzalez-Baradas.
Combining traditional and modern intricate details in fine hand-embroidery has created masterpieces for each product.
