DLF signs MoU for Amritsar's SEZ having textile & garment zone

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Government of Punjab and DLF Universal in the presence of the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Principal Secretary Subodh Aggarwal and DLF Universal Vice-Chairman Rajiv Singh, MoU for Amritsar SEZ, last week.
It is the first SEZ venture in the country to start commercial operations and the project has already got approval from Commerce Ministry's 'Board of Approvals'.
The said project will be spread over 1100 acres and cover four industrial segments.
Textile and garments zone will be alloted 400 acres, 350 acres for engineering industry, 250 acres for food processing industry and finally, 100 acres will go in for free trade and warehousing zone.
DLF will invest over Rs 1000 crore for development of project that is projected to grow to a Rs 5000 crore investment in urban development and associated infrastructure.
DLF sources said that about 25000 jobs will be generated through this project.
