JBF Group sets up Rs170cr polyester chip unit

JBF Industries (JBF) has invested Rs170 crore to set up an unit in Sarigam, near Silvassa, Union Territory, that is expected to manufacture polyester chips with the production capacity of 216,000 tons.

Company also plans to start a Rs140 crore brown field project to produce 25,000 tons of fully drawn yarn (FDY) and 65,000 tons of specialty POY products.

JBF has collaborated with Ras-Ul-Khaimah investment authority, where it owns 60 percent or $30 million worth of equity, to establish a project for the manufacture of 216,000 tons of various grades of chips and 108,000 tons of polyester film.

This project is likely to generate turnover of $350 million in the first full year of operations.

Company recorded Rs754 crore worth of sales in 2005-2006 but is expecting about Rs1550 crore worth sales during 2006-2007.

JBF Industries Ltd has grown to be an industry leader in polyester chips and is one of the top five players in the polyester partially oriented yarns (POY) in India.
