Esquel Group to further invest in Vietnam's Binh Duong

Hong Kong based Esquel Group, one of the world’s leading producers of premium cotton shirts, will further invest in Vietnam’s southern province of Binh Duong, reports Vietnam Plus.

During a meeting with Binh Duong provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung last week, Esquel Group chairwoman and CEO Marjoire Yang said her company would continue investing and expanding production in the province, without specifying when the investment would come.

Ms. Yang was hopeful that the provincial authorities would put in efforts to protect the legitimate interests of those who have invested in the province.

Esquel already operates three factories in Vietnam. It has factories in Vietnam’s southern Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces, and in March this year it inaugurated its third garment factory in the northern province of Hoa Binh.

These three garment factories have created large number of employment opportunities for local people and also contributed to socio-economic development of the provinces, Ms. Yang said.

On his part, Mr. Cung gave an assurance to create favourable conditions so that Esquel can increase its investment and production in the province.

The group employs about 10,000 people in its three Vietnamese factories which together earn US$ 200 million each year from exports.

Besides Vietnam, the Esquel Group has production facilities in China, Malaysia, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka, and a network of branches servicing key markets worldwide. The company manufactures for some of the world’s best known and highly respected brands, including Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, J.Crew, Brooks Brothers, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Bestseller and Muji.
