The tenth Techtextil exhibition was held in May within the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, USA. James Heal was one of over 360 exhibitors at the exhibition, which reported a 15% increase on visitor numbers from previous years and maintained the achievement of attracting visitors from an increasingly expansive number of countries and from a wide diversity of industry sectors.

The exhibition is one of the leading international trade fairs for technical textiles and nonwovens, focused upon the use of technical products for numerous applications including clothing, homeware, sportswear and medical sectors.

Lisa Earnshaw, the Business Development Manager at James Heal, attended the exhibition and was delighted by both the quantity and quality of visitors to the James Heal stand which exceeded expectations and presented opportunities of significant business from this show.

Lisa, who is is an active member of the AATCC (American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists) and ASTM International (American Society for Testing and Materials) added, “Techtextil is an important exhibition for James Heal with its emphasis upon highly technical textiles and nonwovens and the 2014 exhibition was the best US exhibition I have attended in a long time. Many of our Textile Testing instruments, including our TruBurst, Titan and Martindale, are widely used outside of what you could call ‘traditional textiles’, so this an ideal exhibition to showcase the diversity of our instruments.

"These include applications within the medical sector, such as medical gowns, wound dressing, hernia patches and sutures and also applications for the testing of vehicle seating, mosquito nets, coastguard jackets, velvet, carpet and wet wipes."

At James Heal our products evolve with the needs of the market and for customers, allowing us to offer solutions to the demands of the increasingly diverse technical textiles sectors.

James Heal exhibited several precision testing instruments at the show, including their new Martindale abrasion and pilling tester, which generated a very healthy amount of interest and through demonstrations, visitors to the stand were able to appreciate the wide ranging capabilities of this instrument. There was also significant interest in the Titan universal strength tester, which comes with intuitive TestWise software and has a wide range of preloaded test Standards and also the TruBurst which not only tests bursting strength, but also features the capability of 3D fatigue testing.

As in previous years the service and support from Freeman Co. was exceptional and the James Heal branded stand and graphics, which supported the diversification theme, attracted considerable attention.
