Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (BCVPS) said, through its worldwide locations, for the seventh year running, it is celebrating the World Environment Day (WED) June 5, 2015.

According to a Bureau Veritas press release, the WED theme this year is ‘Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care’.

To echo the WED theme, BVCPS launched an India-wide campaign with its employees to take part in promoting responsible management and consumption of the planet's natural resources.

Numerous initiatives have also been taken in its head office in Hong Kong and in China, South and South East Asia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain and UK and also India.

A series of Bureau Veritas India activities scheduled to honour WED around the nation include its various office deciding to adopt an eco friendly way replacing disposable paper glasses with eco friendly ceramic mugs.

“This was distributed to all the employees for using in official tea breaks which could save around 400 paper cups a day, while eco friendly bags were distributed in the Bangalore office,” it added.

BVCPS India has also organised various initiatives to encourage employees to improve the environment by reducing the product and energy consumables they use every day, at both the workplace and home.

Initiatives also include switching off the power supply for one hour at office premises in Gurgaon and Tirupur BV offices & organising print free day for controlling paper consumption.

“Additionally, an attempt was done to encourage employees to take public transportation to work on WED,” the testing agency informed.

“With an objective of reducing a good number of cars or scooters parked on WED, the activity helps reduce consumption of non-renewable fuel resources as well as the amount of CO2,” it informed.

Its campaign involved actions like distributing an environment badge to the staff, showing environment related movies, displaying National Safety Council material like vehicular pollution, air quality standards, etc.

BVCPS also organised a slogan writing contest on the theme ‘Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care’, which were put up as banners at its entrance & NSC environmental posters all over.

The company also hosted a pledge ceremony for the staff to promote further & stick to green actions for a better & greener tomorrow.

Last but not the Least, BVCPS team organised tree plantation program by inviting its BV staff to plant trees around the office premises & also distributing Ashoka plant saplings to its staff.

President Oliver Butler said, “We are again delighted to participate in, and contribute to, these WED initiatives.”
