Teijin Twaron develops new weaving machines

Synthetic fiber maker Teijin Twaron's ballistics department has invested in new weaving machines that enable the ballistics research staff in Wuppertal to give customers an extended insight in usable weaving machines for the production of Twaron ballistics fabrics.
A Dornier PTS Rigid-Rapier Machine running up to 600 rpm (revolutions per minute) is installed. The machine features special adaptations to ensure significantly reduced weft and selvedge waste.
As more weavers are looking for cost-effective alternatives for producing larger volumes, it was considered a good idea to examine the benefits of a Dornier AWS Air-Jet machine. Initial trials have indicated that insertion speeds of at least 850 rpm for the yarn range up to 930 and probably 1100 dtex are possible. By end of this year a complete insight into the product range should be possible.
Our Twaron customers are of course most welcome to visit our laboratory to see these machines and to discuss our latest technical developments.
