After the completion of Rs100 crore expansion of polyester partially oriented yarn (POY) plant at Bharuch in Gujarat last June, Century Enka Limited belonging to B K Birla Group, has plans for setting up a new plant for nylon tyre cord fabric (NTCF) with 8000 ton per annum capacity at a total investment of Rs160 crore.

Official sources revealed that the plant is expected to be operational in the last quarter of 2006.

Cheap imports of NTCF from China were affecting the bottomline of the company for the last two years.

In the nylon filament yarn (NFY) segment, company has cornered 23 percent market share, sources informed.
