JK Agri & NBRI agree to commercialise Bt Cotton technology

Leader in hybrid seed business, JK Agri Genetics Ltd and National Botanical Research Institute (CSIR) entered into agreement to commercialize New Bt Cotton technology by using Cry 1EC gene.

In collaborative research with BREF-IIT Kharagpur, JK Agri Genetics recently introduced indigenously developed Bt Cotton in Indian Market.

This Bt Cotton was launched after getting approval from GEAC during Kharif 2006.

These new gene will be pyramided by NBRI with Cry 1Ac gene.

This newly developed Bt cotton will provide insect resistance coverage against Spodoptera (tobacco caterpillar) and other seasonal pests for entire field.

JK Agri Genetics is expected to launch new generation product in few years.

CRY 1 EC + Cry 1 AC will reduce the use of expensive chemical insecticides, which will benefited to farmers for cost effective production.
